A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Alice! A 30 year old from northern England who can’t stay still and enjoys sugar a bit too much (perhaps these things are linked?) This website is a collection of my paddling, hiking and cycling adventures from around the world. Ideally it will give you some inspiration and help you plan your next adventure!

After leaving my geography teaching job in 2015, the last 5 years have been spent pursuing people-powered adventures. 2015-2017 saw me cycle the length of Australia, New Zealand and from Indonesia to Nepal. In 2019 I branched out and packrafted 600km across Bangladesh and walked the length of Iceland.

Through these trips I have learnt so much; cycling opened my eyes to the kindness of strangers and taught me to appreciate the diversity of people and places. Paddling allowed me to see the world from a fresh perspective; how ultimately nature is more powerful than people, something to be protected and admired. Lastly, hiking has made me re-think my personal impact on the planet. When you see every footstep etched in the sand behind you, it is hard not to become reflective.

Previous to 2020 I freelanced as an outdoor instructor in the UK and as an international expedition leader taking groups of young people abroad. With the current climate I have returned to teaching and am moving to Uzbekistan mid 2021 to teach geography, so watch out for Central Asian adventures. I am incredibly keen to help others plan their own trips, so if you have an idea or need some advice then please get in touch.

Also if you have managed to get this far, then below is an interview I did with Bob Cartwright from The Outdoors Station, as well as an interview with Paul Schmid from The Pursuit Zone.
